Back in 2009 (wow….a long time ago), I did a pattern review on the Mail Sack by Pink Chalk Studio.
I had long forgotten about this pattern/bag until recently when one of my daughter’s teachers asked me to make her one.
I pulled out the pattern and quickly remembered how much fun this bag was to make, and how quickly it came together. Since it was so long ago that I posted that review, and my picture taking skills have improved some, I thought I would share the beauty of this bag properly.
She wanted the bright gypsy paisley red fabric from Michael Miller to be the base. I recommended the yellow Henna Garden to compliment the yoke and strap.
I put a divided slip pocket in the interior and added the magnetic snap. My strap measured 44″ which I find to be the perfect length for an average height woman.
I had so much fun making this bag, I decided to put together another for my shop.
For this bag I choose to utilize one of the newest fabrics in my collection….Surf from Michael Miller. I complimented it with a nice white linen for the base.
The great thing about this bag is it lends itself nicely to embroidery. The base piece is the perfect size for a 5×7 hoop! Once again, I felt compelled to use Scribbled Vines by Meringue Designs. I used gray and black rayon thread to match the top fabric.
I highly recommend this pattern if you are looking for a quick, easy and satisfying sew. Both of the bags I made were the mini version – I have yet to make the large version, but it is on my list!
