Do you have quilt envy? What I mean by this, is do you have a love for quilts and block patterns, but just don’t have the time nor patience to actually make one? Guess what – so do I. That is why I try to find alternative ways to indulge in sewing some quilt blocks without making the commitment of making an actual quilt. This tutorial is one of those alternatives…
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Quilt Block Pattern of your choice
Hand Sewing Needle
Find a quilt block that you love. Shrink it down to be anywhere from 2.5″ – 5″ depending on how large you want your pincushion.
Cut your fabric and assemble your quilt block.
Cut a piece of fabric for the back of the pin cushion that measures the same as the finished block.
Place the quilt block and backing right sides together.
Sew around the perimeter leaving a small opening (1″-2″)
Turn & press
The designs I used were quite simple…the options are endless and the best part is that this little pincushion will sit by your machine and offer up a ton of inspiration every time you look at it. Hey – maybe it will even persuade you to actually commit to that quilt!
