Price Tags. You might think it’s a simple last minute “to do” item, but don’t fall into that trap. Tagging your handmade goods is an art in itself, and believe it or not – if you do it right, it can help you sell your item and even bring you future sales. How is that? Let’s explore…
Why Tags are Important
First and foremost, price tags provide information. They will tell your customer how much the product costs and allow them to quickly decide if the item is something they care to consider purchasing. It will weed out customers who do not fit your target audience quickly.
Secondly, price tags will discourage price haggling which can be frustrating and time consuming (not to mention offensive).
Finally, it will expedite check out. They buyer and the seller do not have to spend time referencing prices – it will be right in front of both of them.
What Tags Say About You
If done correctly, price tags will tell the customer a lot more than the price of the product. It will tell them about your Brand.
A well-done, eye catching price tag is not only aesthetically appealing, but it displays your attention to detail. In the crafting business this is extremely important. If you take the time to make your price tags beautiful, what does that say about the products you are selling? It screams volumes!
How Tags Can Lead to Future Sales
And last, but not least those little tags can build your brand and lead to future sales. Be sure to include your business website and/or contact information. Once your customer leaves your shop/tent, they have all the information they need attached to their purchase to contact you or relay your information to friends and family. Sometimes that works better than business cards which can get lost among dozens of cards picked up at a fair.
Your logo should always be a part of your tag. Promote brand recognition so even though they may not remember your business name, they can recall those “two blue dragonflies” that identify your business. Brand recognition is key to building business and increasing sales.
