Let’s start the new year off with a fun, quick tutorial that will not only keep you warm, but get you lots of compliments!
How about an awesome Faux Fur Wrap?
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
1/2 yard of faux fur (60″ width) – I used Alpaca Faux Fur in Oyster
1/2 yard of fleece or minky (60″ width) – I used White Minky Cuddle
Take the full 1/2 yard of fur and place it right side up on a large surface (I used my floor).
Using your hand “comb” all of the fur so it is lying flat and in the same direction.
Place the full 1/2 yard of fleece/minky right side down directly on top of the fur.
Don’t worry about the mess – this is quite a furry endeavor – don’t bother trying to clean it up as you go, it’s pointless.
Save it for when you are finished.
Pull both fabrics taught and begin pinning. One side is going to be easier than the other.
When you reach the side with the “loose” fur ends, you will need to gently push the fur back (against the natural lay of the fur),
and under the fleece/minky. You want those ends to fall nicely over the sewn seam when you are finished.
Once you are finished pinning, your wrap will look like this:
Sew along the perimeter, leaving a 5-6″ opening, trim an excess fur/minky seam allowance off the edge then turn it right side out.
Check to see if any large chunks of fur got caught up in your seam…if so, you can gently pull them out.
All you need to do now is close up that opening using a simple slip stitch.
Now you have a stunning, warm wrap that looks quite gorgeous!!!
